FAQ

A.If you have an exposed wall in the basement, normally you can see the formation of the blocks. Age is also a good indication. Most homes 25 years old or newer are poured concrete, although there are always some exceptions.

A. It is effective because it is not just a patch. It actually fills the crack entirely front to back, top to bottom. Also, because it is a rubberized compound, it stays flexible. This maintains the seal even with the slight movements that foundations are subject to, where others would re-crack and re-leak.

A. When we install a sump pump with either of the drainage systems, you are able to see the system working. As the water is collected in the pipes it empties into the sump pit.

A. Just a simple check once a month or so, to ensure that the pump is in working order, check that the float has sufficient room to move so that the pump can self-activate.

A. In most cases 24 hours is long enough for the cement to set before walking on it. Often, by the following morning it is fine.

A. The material used for the back-fill will typically determine how much the fill will settle. If it is mostly gravel, there will be very little compaction, where as if it is clay or topsoil, the grade could condense up to 12″. In these cases, we normally leave extra on top to accommodate for the settling.

A. A leak repair can cost from about $300.00 to several thousand dollars. The best way to determine the cost is to have one of our experts come and give you a free estimate.

A. If it is a simple crack repair, it could be completed in as little as 45 minutes. More thorough exterior jobs can run up to a week, longer on larger homes.

A. It will depend on the severity of the problem and if the basement area is finished. A simple crack repair on an unfinished basement can take less than an hour with little mess. In a finished basement a section of drywall would be removed and the repair done in a few hours. An external repair could require some landscape work once the repair is completed.
